Curls and Faux Fur

Happy Monday everyone! Today I decided to set my hair in an actual pattern *le gasp* after weeks of just rolling my hair in a sporadic mess. The set I used was from Lauren Rennells' Vintage Hairstyling. Even though I followed the set exactly, my hair still turned out slightly different than what the final product looked like, as my hair never fully cooperates. Nonetheless, it still looked nice!

Instead of a wet set like the book instructed, I did a dry set as that works best for my hair. I rolled the front section with 4 small rollers and used medium/extra for the rest of my hair, making sure to leave the crown of my head flat.

The book also used pillow rollers but since I didn't have any, I continued with the sponge rollers and split the rest of my hair into 3 rows.

ahh, the dreaded before picture

After sleeping in the set, this is what my hair looked after I removed the rollers and before I brushed the curls
out.

After tons of brushing, hair manipulation, and pomade, this was the result:

I adore the bangs because they're a little Diana Dors-esque (I worship her and her hair)

Since, I used sponge rollers instead of pillow ones, the curls weren't as loose as they were supposed to be; but they lasted through the entire day which was awesome!

And there you have it! A quick tutorial (?) to get you through the long week (now back to tackling this homework...sigh)

xoxo,
Eunice

  1. Ohh you have given me some serious hair envy! I do mine in pincurls and set them randomly, so they never look too nice. I think I need to go out and find some rollers like the ones you use because your curls are exactly how I want mine to look!

    1. Thank you so much! Pincurls do absolutely nothing for my hair except give me a slight curl, so rollers are my best friend!

  2. CUTE! I am also a random pin curl set kinda girl during the week. I can usually manage to get it into a vintage-esque style with a lot of will power. Last night I actually did a really nice and neat set and was going to post it on my blog and lo and behold... I got SICK and couldn't brush it out today!! Only happens to me!

And don't feel bad. My hair always comes out slightly different than I was expecting but you can always make it work!

Super cute blog by the way!

    1. Oh no! I hope you feel better; random sets are the best when you have no time to actually follow a pattern (my life right now haha).

      And thank you! :)

  3. I can never follow a pattern either. If I try, it never ever turns out the same as what I am following. I've given up trying. :)

    1. haha don't give up! I've notice that when I follow sets and my hair goes astray, my front section (at least) follows the pattern somewhat and I try to work with that; if not, I just pin and pomade my hair like crazy. :)

  5. Love this! I'm still trying to work some things out with my hair, but setting it in an actual pattern might help!
