Dreaded Decorating

Recently in my busy little life, I got an apartment with some friends. The place is beautiful and I'm so excited to live in it! The only drawback is that with an empty space, you have to fill it, and I haven't the slightest clue on how to do that. Knowing how to dress a person is one thing, it's almost second nature to me. Dressing an apartment? My head wants to implode.

I know the concept I'm trying to go for: a mix between modern and vintage (heavy emphasis on the vintage); but I don't know how or where to get the items I need to fully achieve that (and stay within a reasonable budget).

Here are some items that I may consider to be contenders:

First off, the bed. This has been the most difficult venture as it took me three days to decide on a simple mattress, a mattress! I've been in between the idea of having a nice bed, headboard and all, or just having a simple bed frame. I found this bed at Ikea and though I like it, I'm worried it might be too...child like? I'm not really sure.

Next, we have a dressing table. I really want a vintage vanity but can't seem to find one for a reasonable price (struggling college student here!). So I opted for a modern dressing table that I would decorate with old knick nacks and pretty things I find.

I also plan to put a light up mirror to make it look like my own makeshift vanity.

Finally, room decor. This portion wasn't as difficult as finding furniture, so it was easy to find things I liked. I know I want to adorn my room with lots of Old Hollywood posters so finding replicas on Etsy, won't be a hassle. I also want to store things in pretty jars and bowls around my room like these from Urban Outfitters:

That's all I have so far! Move in day is drawing near and I still have a lot more furniture to find (chairs, drawers, etc). I can't wait to get this process done and over with and have my room like I envision it to be *fingers crossed*. If any of you lovely readers have any suggestions, they'd be greatly appreciated. :)

The room decorating hunt continues!

xoxo
