Houndstoothin'

So I'm finally on Christmas vacation, which means I can actually relax and have time to myself. I haven't dressed up in a while, so the arrival of new clothing helped trigger some inspiration.

This skirt I got is slowly becoming one of my favorites as not only is it an awesome houndstooth pattern; but it's a thick cotton blend that's perfect for winter. I'm usually sporting a skirt or dress no matter what the weather is like so this skirt will be worn plenty.

Along with the skirt  got an amazing pair of cat eyes. I've been dying to get a pair of bedazzled sunglasses and these are the best I've seen (that I can actually buy/afford). I have a tendency to scratch the lenses of my sunglasses fairly quickly so hopefully this pair doesn't see this fate.

I'm also rocking a new hairstyle :)

Last Minute Hair

I'm baaaack and with a quick hair tutorial too! With a busy schedule and long days, I don't always have time to sit down and put in a roller set in my hair. Lately I've picked up the habit of just putting my hair in a lazy bun with a hair accessory, something I usually frown upon. So I've decided enough is enough and found ways to do my hair that's quick, simple, and still gives off that vintage vibe.

The first thing I did was take a curling iron, I think mine is either 1/2" or 1" but any normal size one should be fine, and curled the front section of my hair back. I then set it with a large sponge roller.

With the rest of my hair I took the same curling iron and wrapped sections of my hair around the barrel of it, like you would with a curling wand.

The curls should come out to look something like this:

When curling my hair, I did it sporadically giving my hair almost messy curls (aka I was running late and didn't have time to be neat/ precise)

I then took the front section out of the roller and brushed it forward. It made a weird curl thing so I decided to go with it and pinned it in place.

And that's it! It took my around 10-15 minutes to do which isn't too bad. I ended up adding a hair flower to make it pop a bit as well.

Now you're ready to speed walk to class before you're fashionably late!

Snippets of My 20th Birthday

The weeks of my life are becoming busier and busier, with less time to just sit down and breathe. In no time, I realized that it was my birthday week (I turned 20 on February 19th) and I scurried to find a way to celebrate it. I decided to go out to dinner with some friends but ended up not taking as many pictures as I hoped on my camera. I did manage to find some on my phone (of food of course), so enjoy!

My birthday started off with a cupcake delivery from my mom from one of my favorite bakeries. I swear, the best way to my heart/make me happy is food. Especially desserts.

The best red velvet cupcakes EVER

The night of my birthday, my friends and I went to dinner at an Italian restaurant. I had little time to get ready because of a full day of class, so I tried to put myself together as much as I could.

A hint of polka dots!

The food at the restaurant was AMAZING. Everything was made fresh including the pasta and was completely worth the wait. I couldn't resist finishing the whole plate.

Pasta Fresca: Spinach pasta, tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil, goat cheese, and garlic

After dinner, a waiter with a lovely voice came out with Tiramisu and a lit birthday candle and sang an Italian rendition of 'Happy Birthday' (he also kissed me on both cheeks which was really sweet :))

The best Tiramisu I've had

I then came home to another delivery of sweets (thanks Mom!) which were equally as delicious as the cupcakes.

Overall, entering my 20s (still not adjusted to that fact) was delicious! I hope being 20 treats me well. :)

Oh Monday, Monday

There's always something about Mondays. Whether you're in school, working, or on vacation, it's the one day of the week that you'd rather spend under your covers in bed. Though I spent some of my day doing exactly that (shh), I put on my one of my favorite dresses and ran some errands for the remainder of it (actual productivity hooray!).

The dress I'm wearing is a 1940s Girl Scout uniform that I found at vintage store. Finding vintage clothing in person that fits me perfectly is quite a challenge for me due to the abundance of smaller sizes and my not so small proportions. So you can imagine my excitement when I tried this on and it fit! I could really wear this dress everyday if I could.

And since it's Monday, enjoy some silly pictures of me to brighten up the day!

My favorite face to make in pictures

I don't even know what this smile is

kissy face??

Though this Monday wasn't so horrible, if I could skip the day forever it would be amazing.

How was everyone's day today?

Rolls, Rolls, Rolls

Ah, what better time to do a blog post than in the wee hours of the morning... Lately, I've been having trouble putting quality outfits together due to my growing pile of clothes that need to be altered (I cringe whenever I think about it). So I decided to jazz up my hair instead. I went to visit a friend yesterday and had no time to wash/ put my hair in a set, so I made due with what I had. I tossed a scarf on but didn't know what to do with the top portion of my hair since it had barely any curl left to it. Randomly rolling my hair into various, large pin curls resulted in this:

curse you, bobby pin!

Not too shabby I'd say! It held up well throughout the day and added a flair to my attire when my outfit did not suffice.

Now to deal with my excessively hair-sprayed hair in the morning...sigh.
